we aim for net zero carbon emissions

and increased habitat for biodiversity

woodland creation

Government policy is creating a dynamic push for more woodland creation  as we aim for net zero carbon emissions and increased habitat for biodiversity.

We can assist with Woodland Creation projects at any scale and offer advice and support with any aspect of a tree planting project including:

  • Planning and designing of a scheme

  • Assessing suitable species (for site conditions and climate change resilience)

  • Environmental Impact Assessments and regulatory approval

  • Grant applications – for planning/planting and maintenance

  • Budgeting

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Plant procurement

  • Fencing/tree planting/protection

  • Plantation maintenance

We aim for all our planting schemes to be as environmentally sustainable as we can.  Where possible we only use nurseries with Plant Healthy status (removing risk of importing disease),  we aim to use alternatives to plastic tubes and fencing where viable and to keep soil disturbance to a minimum.

carbon sales

Woodland planting has the potential to provide a landowner with revenue through sales of carbon units.

We can ensure that any woodland creation project can maximise that potential by

  • Assessing the carbon sequestration potential of the project

  • Registering the scheme with the Woodland Carbon Code

  • Attracting purchases of carbon

To this end English Woodlands Forestry is delighted to be an Expert Provider for the Forest Canopy Foundation.  The foundation is a consortium of woodland consultants who are linking tree planting projects to corporate partners wishing to invest in carbon and/or environmental projects.

Woodland Creation // Carbon Sales

“We always follow recommended best practice for the safe treatment and movement of infected wood and aim to maximise timber value if and where possible.

We have experience of enacting compulsory fellings under Statutory Plant Health Notices and can provide advice about available grants for Tree Health issues.”

Further Services

our range of services

Forestry & woodland management

Woodland management is critical to maintain the health, biodiversity and timber value of woodlands. Sensitive management can increase and enhance special features, protect ecology and ancient trees, enhance landscape value and promote the recreational and sporting potential of the woodland.

Tree risk & tree health services

Landowners are legally responsible for the safety of any trees on their property.   This means that they are personally accountable if a tree or branch falls and causes damage or harm to property or people.

Timber valuation, extraction & sales

Getting the maximum value from your timber is critical.   Our timber extraction is completed to the best possible standard with regard for health and safety, the environment and the long-term value of the wood.

Grant applications & management

There are numerous grants available to support woodland management and woodland creation.  Our experienced team has a thorough understanding of these complex grants - and of the evolving policy as these grants change.
